Determination can be a battle or a thrill.
Mindset is so much of what business is about. And, as hard as it may sound to you, you have complete control of what you let in and even more so, where you hold your own thoughts. And your thoughts will make a huge difference in the way others relate to you.
You know the Chicken Soup for the Soul series of books? They sold millions of copies. Millions! The men that compiled those books (among other empires) shared in a class they gave that the typists were told not to work on days when they were out of sorts. They did not want negative energy of any kind to influence their books. It was a bold position to take and they stand firm in the practice of a positive mindset.
This is right in line with the Chasidic teaching: Think good and it will be good. The idea here is to take that thought and practice deep into yourself: mind, emotions, and actions. Oh, you can do this!
Transformation comes because you want something better. And, transformation is NOT comfortable most of the time. That's ok.
The question is, are you willing to be uncomfortable while you grow into what's next?
Are you willing to push past your own limiting beliefs?
Are you willing to do the work to break through the shell? That may be a great metaphor because getting out of that shell is only the first step. Then you need to rest (collect yourself and evaluate your next steps) and move forward. Taking that step to get past your comfort zone still leaves a lot of adventure ahead and if you're on track with a dream or project or business that enlivens you, you've got a lot to look forward to as you develop yourself.
What do you need to do right now that will move you forward one step?
Are you willing to look scrawny as you start? Are you willing to "fail forward" into success?
Are you clear about what you want in life right now? What is it that you need to bring into the world right now? Is there a dream? A message? Knowing clearly what you want to say YES to means that you can also gain the clarity of what to say NO to.
What is really important to you? Knowing the what is critical. Success master Brian Tracy teaches to make a list of all the things you'd like to do or accomplish. Then go through the list and ask yourself, "If I could only do one of the things on this list, what would that one thing be? Now go do it."
The next step is knowing the WHY. Why do you want to accomplish this goal or build this dream? Answering the why will fuel you to move forward.
So, what do you really want? How honest can you be about this? How much do you really want it?
I once read in a book for writers that you know you have to write when it's more painful not to write, than to write. If you know what you want, if you're clear about that, there is not a better time than right now to take action.
Be more committed to your dream than to your insecurity!
Take some small action right NOW.
Yeah, well, if you're feeling discouraged because you feel like your life isn't even close to the first arrow, and in fact if your life feels more like the second arrow, then that's great!!! It means you're on track. How cool is that?
The thing is, you have to keep going. Yes. One more step, then one more. Do you have clarity about what you want to accomplish? If not, then maybe your next step is getting honest with yourself about what will really make your heart sing. If your heart sings when you think of your dream, it's a good sign that you are on track!
Sometimes I encourage people to "fail well." In fact, there are times that I've invited people to do the crappiest job at something they possibly can! That is a place to start.
You can do this!
And you're not in it alone either; you are never alone.
