In this article, How to Accomplish More by Doing Less, author Tony Schwartz shares what he's learned about the law of diminishing returns. That is, if you try to work longer, your productivity will go down. The idea is to work in 90 minute spurts with rest in between. He shares a number of interesting examples of how this works in the work place and how it works for pilots and top violinists.
The more I study about health in every arena, the more I see that getting enough rest is critical. Regenerating and rejuvenating is so important to being productive and on target.

Here's a great article about what to do and what not to do when building a website: Build a Killer Website: 19 Dos and Don'ts The author has some great ideas and even links to resources. I only take exception with #8. You usually do need testimonials (unless your selling art). He is right that they need to be specific. LIke: "This product increased my income by $30,000 in three months."
The website builder I use is http://www.weebly.com. I have used them not just for this website but for my main website: http://www.auntlaya.com as well as our tzimmer http://tzimmerpeace.weebly.com. Notice the difference between the addresses? One is just a .com and the other is .weebly.com. For my main page (as well as this website) I bought a URL or web address. For under $10 a year you can have a URL which will make your site much more professional. I didn't do that for my tzimmer because I want people to know that it's a small mom and pop kind of business and very simple.
Tip: Notice that if you click on any of the links on my website that a new page opens? Make sure you check the option to "open in a new window" so that you don't drive visitors away from your website, you want them to keep their plac There are other websites that will offer what Weebly does. Just do an internet search and you'll find many. Many of the high level entrepreneurs I have come in contact with (and learn from) use Wordpress. It's very popular. To buy a URL I recommend the biggest: http://www.godaddy.com Tip: I learned this one the hard way. Be prepared to buy your URL as soon as you find it. Don't just see if it's available and that you'll come back to it. Apparently there is some kind of program out there that sees what people are searching and then buys it. I lost a URL that meant a lot to me (for the next book I'm writing). Have your credit card in hand and grab it when you find it. Tip: Buy more than one at a time. Buy your name. I have the same addresses in .com and .org for some of the ones I own. If you want what you're doing to be big, buy misspellings too and you can redirect those to your main website. Questions? Leave a comment. Heck, leave a comment anyway. It's always nice to know someone's been here for a visit and got something out of it. |
